Microcurrent Point Stimulation for Superior Wellness Outcomes

Microcurrent Point Stimulation (MPS) is an electrotherapy approach to managing chronic pain. Essentially, MPS is a noninvasive and drug-free manipulation of the autonomic nervous system through an integration of microcurrent stimulation and acupressure and is most often found in the practice for licensed massage therapists.
What does this have to do with an optometrist you might wonder?
When a holistic optometrist links arms with other wellness professionals, in this case a massage therapist, the scope of treatment broadens for both practitioners. At Eyes Focused on You, we have been fortunate to see the benefits of MPS many times in our office. In fact, we have recently been approved to start a study with Dr. Ben Thompson and the University of Waterloo who have been providing microcurrent treatments for amblyopia or lazy eye in a research setting and will soon bring this study to our clinic in collaboration with registered massage therapist, Margaret Wallis-Duffy.
The more we learn about this exciting technology, the more we realize the breadth of disease and ailment MPS can help. From inflammation in the jaw causing facial nerve problems to concussions and migraines, as well as sciatica, neck and back pain – this tool can treat them all! We are pleased that MPS treatments are a positive part of an integrated health care approach that can empower patients to be healthier and live longer and well but without pain!
